THE PLANT LIFE BALANCE APP LAUNCHED ONE YEAR AGO!

1 November 2018

Over the last 12 months, the Plant Life Balance app has gone from strength to strength. We have crunched the numbers on its success to date and are now ready to share the results!

APP DOWNLOADS
Within the first month of launching, the app was downloaded an incredible 20,940 times, far exceeding our target of 10,000 downloads. Now, after a year in market, the app has continued to be popular and has now been downloaded over 50,000 times!

SOCIAL MEDIA
The Facebook page now has over 34,000 followers, having gained an additional 15,500 since the app launch.

The Instagram account now has over 10,300 followers, with an average engagement of 9.6% on each post (this includes 'liking', commenting on, or sharing a post). The average rate of engagement on Instagram is between 1% and 3.5% and anything above 6% is considered very high engagement.

We also ran three social media competitions across both platforms asking people to show us their best crawling vines, hanging plants and office greening for the chance to win plant vouchers. The competitions were entered 300+ times and the winning images received high engagement on our channels.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
In April this year, the app was awarded the coveted Webby Award in the category for Mobile Sites & Apps – Lifestyle, and won the People's Choice Award in the same category. The Webby Awards recognise excellence in digital media globally across a number of categories.

The Awards' Executive Director Claire Graves praised the app, remarking, "Plant Life Balance has set the standard for innovation and creativity on the internet. This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators".

PR & MEDIA COVERAGE
In the last year, the Plant Life Balance campaign generated 744 clips, including media articles across broadcast, print, online and social media.

These clips collectively had a total reach of 60+ million known circulation (including maximum potential social media reach and engagement from social posts).

RETAIL NURSERY ENGAGEMENT
98 hero nurseries helped us kick off the campaign by receiving in-store collateral kits and setting up displays to promote the campaign. One fantastic example of this can be seen in the image above.

Nursery engagement has continued to build with over 106 nurseries and 171 individuals having now completed the Plant Life Balance accreditation online learning module.

If any retail nurseries you work with haven't completed the accreditation, we encourage you to send them the Plant Life Balance accreditation link. Upon completion, they will receive a campaign collateral kit and be listed on the recently released accredited nursery finder.

11 CAMPAIGN LOOKS
Of the 11 campaign looks that were launched over the last year, Jungle Vibes proved to be the most popular look on the website. Overall the data indicated that indoor looks were consistently more popular than outdoor looks.

BUNNINGS PARTNERSHIP
A successful partnership has been negotiated between Plant Life Balance and Bunnings. This partnership means we can drive
brand awareness and campaign messaging through the largest retail nursery network in Australia.

The Plant Life Balance app was downloaded onto 9000 Bunnings store devices and all green life staff have received training on the accreditation module.

One of the most significant opportunities for the campaign was coverage at the Bunnings National Expo events. At these four events our team was able to complete live demonstrations of the app and offer face-to-face accreditation sessions for over 797 team members.

WHAT'S NEXT?
As we mentioned in last month's update, production is well under way for the four new looks to rollout before the year's end.

These looks will be supported by an updated digital collateral kit for retail nurseries and we are also working on our very first Plant Life Balance consumer event!

Beyond the above, we are constantly strategising new ways to maintain the momentum of the campaign. If you have ideas that you would love to see explored, please get in touch with our team at hello@202020vision.com.au
