About the project

The Goods Line project converts a 500-meter stretch of disused railway track into a highly activated urban park and public space, including bike paths, study pods and outdoor workspaces.
An industrial relic on the city's western fringe has been transformed into a linear and connected, elevated city park.

Akin to the makeover that turned 2.3 kilometres of an old Manhattan freight line into a lauded urban renewal landmark, The Goods Line project converts a 500-meter stretch of disused railway track into a highly activated urban park and public space, including bike paths, study pods and outdoor workspaces.

The park sits 4 meters above street level and spans from the Devonshire Street Pedestrian tunnel, through to Ultimo and ends at the site of the old Powerhouse Museum. Plans to redevelop the University of Technology will incorporate The Goods Line project, with many of their new buildings opening into the public space.

This development brings multiple public and private sector stakeholders together, united in a mission to produce a new and exciting urban green space for the Sydney suburb of Ultimo.

The Goods Line is now open to the public!
