PLANT TALES & COCKTAILS – OUR FIRST CONSUMER EVENT

4 December 2018

The team are hosting Plant Life Balance's first ever consumer-facing event, which features a panel of plant lovers with different backgrounds as well as the opportunity to try some plant-infused cocktails.

Set among the foliage of Sydney Newtown’s A Loft Story, the panel will explore our intrinsic relationship with plants, their health and wellbeing benefits, and how you can transform your own space with stylish, plant-filled looks.

The panel includes:
  • Jana Stewart from Microcosm
Budding Microbiologist, Jana Stewart will be joining us as our resident Plant Doctor. Her business, Microcosm, was started because while most of us appreciate plants, looking after them and keeping them alive is another thing. Jana will be offering advice on choosing plants that will be happy in your space, and how to keep them growing.
  • Michael Chiem from PS40
Michael Chiem takes two things very seriously, bubbles and botanicals. As the founder of PS40, recently-labelled 2018’s Best Cocktail Bar in Sydney by TimeOut Australia, Michael is more of a mad scientist than he is bartender. Michael will be revealing some secrets of PS40’s in-house soda operation, discussing how they began experimenting with botanicals and what natural, local, native ingredients they’re loving this season.
  • Ceramicist Rachel Farag
Not afraid to get dirty, our featured ceramicist and artist Rachel Farag knows how to make you marvel over mud. Rachel’s range of planters, tableware and jewellery will have you daydreaming about that Patrick Swayze scene from Ghost for weeks. Rachel will be talking all things clay and dishing out stories about how her connection with nature inspires her work.
  • Botanical illustrator Chloe Joyce
Perhaps best known for her beautiful plant and animal prints, Chloe Joyce is an Instagram sensation. From cats facing an identity crisis’ to nude top-knotted lasses lounging around their leafy living rooms, her illustrations aim to put a smile on your face and make you pine for more greenery. Chloe will be discussing where her love for botanical illustrations was born and what her creative process is.
  • Hairdresser Jane Wei
We’ve crowned her the Edward Scissorhands of Newtown, a woman who seriously knows her way around a pair of scissors and secateurs. Transforming a Newtown warehouse into an urban oasis, it’s unknown whether Jane spends more time tending to her notoriously temperamental maidenhair ferns or trimming the locks of her two-legged fronds. As director of A Loft Story, Jane will talk us through why she decided to green out her business and the benefits it’s had for her employees and clients.

The event has been designed to continue building the Plant Life Balance brand outside of the home.

We are also currently working on expanding our Plant Life Balance channels and will have more of an update for you next month, so stay tuned!
