202020 VISION PRESENTS AT TRANSFORM CONFERENCE

3 April 2019

The Green Building Council Australia (GBCA) Transform conference took place on March 20, where 202020 Vision presented an interactive session called “New Stories for Liveable Cities” to a full room of senior developers, built environment experts, architects, planners and government bureaucrats, and the incoming CEO of GBCA. In this session the team presented preliminary research findings on community attitudes to greening, as well as a first look at segments of the community kit – a resource in development designed to assist councils in overcoming key barriers and challenges encountered when engaging constituents on urban greening.

During the session, the audience were also given a hypothetical green space project and an audience to pitch it to. These projects were based on real-world developments, and the audiences to be engaged included internal stakeholders, local council, and the community. The teams were trained in tailoring language for these different audiences in order to get the green space development approved.

This conference presentation and the research that was shared form part of 202020 Vision's ongoing partnership with the GBCA to introduce more recognition of the value of plants and trees in the soon to be updated green star rating tools. The new GBCA tools are expected to be released mid-2020.
