Parks Forum

m2 To the vision

About this organisation

We aim to protect, conserve and advocate for the full spectrum of parks and their development; from the small green patch and playground in the CBD where people play and breathe, to iconic parks like Exhibition Park in Melbourne, the Royal Botanical Parks, Cornwall Park in Auckland; in Sydney and all of the many others; to the wildernesses across the Australia and New Zealand. Our mission is to unite and provide leadership for the parks industry, assisting the industry to take up its role as a significant contributor to the health of our society and environment, and also as an important sector in the economy. To carry out our mission, Parks Forum will: •Identify and promote best practice and innovation in park management •Develop and promote professional standards for park management •Promote the acquisition of new knowledge through benchmarking, evaluation and research •Promote knowledge sharing to improve delivery of park services to the community •Achieve recognition as the peak body for the park industry, whose advocacy is respected and welcomed •Build partnerships with aligned organisations or sectors; and •Enhance community understanding and support for parks, demonstrating the links between healthy ecosystems and healthy human communities.

Why we support the vision

Parks Forum is the peak body for parks agencies across Australia and New Zealand. We aim to prove the economic values of green infrastructure to governments at all levels, so that a strong and vibrant parks industry is recognised and supported by the whole community. We aim to preserve and improve parks for the benefit of healthy people, a healthy economy and a healthy environment. We would like to assist 202020 to increase the urban green space by 20% by 2020 by working together to achieve our mutual and synergistic goals.
