About the project

The Banora Point Upgrade set a new benchmark for integrated urban and landscape design for the Pacific Highway.
The 2.5 kilometre motorway provides a distinctive gateway experience between New South Wales and Queensland, with a visually stimulating journey from the northern end of Barney’s Point Bridge to the southern end of the Tweed Heads bypass.

A significant focus of the design was the protection and regeneration of local vegetation for biodiversity, with a total of 17,796 trees planted.

The road and new highway landforms have been integrated with the adjoining terrain and surrounding landscape, minimising the highway’s footprint. A land bridge across the road corridor further enhances connectivity and community access.
