About the project

Arcadia was commissioned by Architectus to join their team for the design and documentation of the Defence Housing Australia residential development, Crimson Hill, which sits within the woodland setting of the UTS Ku-ring-gai Campus, and adjacent to the edge of the Lane Cove National Park. In response to the unique and high quality natural environs, creating and building on the connection with these elements was an essential part of the landscape design and response to the site. Although the landscape along the spine of the development is sitting on the podium of the carpark, the landscape solution looks to use the level change to create deep planters which will allow for mature tree plantings within the site, and assist in concealing and breaking down the level change and associated structure. Additionally the use of native species looks to address a seamless connection of the built form to the adjacent bushland, streetscape, provide selective screening, and break up the views between the built forms.
