About the project

Ecco Ripley's urban centre will have a strong natural character, expressed through ‘ribbons of green’.
The Ripley Valley is expected to house up to 10 per cent of southeast Queensland's population growth during the next 20 years. The new master planned community known as ‘Ecco Ripley’ will become the civic, commercial and recreational heart for 120,000 residents.

HASSELL has collaborated with Sekisui House Australia on the overall landscape master plan for the 400 hectare development, and the first stage of the residential component located nine kilometres from Ipswich CBD.

The vision for Ecco Ripley is an urban centre with a strong natural character, expressed through ‘ribbons of green’ that connect the surrounding neighbourhoods to the town centre and park. Recreation and environmental values are key to this community concept and the first stage of development will include four hectares of parkland, incorporating: the retention of mature eucalypts, extensive use of endemic species to create wildlife corridor links; and a ‘green street’ providing a pedestrian/cycle and water treatment function that links with the town centre and creek.

The future residents will be involved in the parkland development through community gardens, planting days and ongoing environmental interpretation of the site.
