About the project

The Ryde Campus have created a 1000m2 kitchen garden for use by cookery students
The new formal Ryde campus kitchen garden with patio was designed by the landscape teachers, and built by the landscape construction and the horticulture students. Covering 1000m2, the garden will be used by the Ryde hospitality school and Le Cordon Bleu school that shares the campus. The use of the garden will be integrated into the cookery curriculum, allowing students to better understand local food miles, crop seasonality, and the diversity of crops with plantings of different types of basils, sorrels, citrus and tomatoes. This is an extension of a program where the students have access to balcony herb gardens which were mainly used for garnishes.

The garden and the patio were designed and built over 2015. To follow in 2016 is an external wet kitchen and outdoor oven which will be used for hosting campus events.
